“Why” begins with my personal story. In the early years of my career, I consistently found myself desiring to be involved in helping others be successful within their responsibilities, whether it was answering phone calls, administrative work, or running errands–whatever was needed to make their load lighter. This aspiration expanded. I found myself in leadership roles, and the one constant was investing in others and helping them to be successful. During this period, my mentor introduced a concept of “convergence” between my personal distinctives and my professional career.
We delved into my strengths, innate abilities, personality preferences, and life experiences. We defined my mission, crafted my vision, delineated my central beliefs to establish core values and desired legacy. We seamlessly embedded and converged each of these areas into my personal and professional life. This ultimately engaged me in viewing life through the lens of my distinct and unique personal mission and vision, enabling life to be lived with more confidence, clarity, intentionality, and ultimate fulfillment.
As I talked with others about my experience, there began to be a demand for the process and in 2004, I created LifeMap for Focused Living. Developed with precision and refined through extensive experience, this powerful tool empowered hundreds of leaders to achieve unparalleled convergence in their personal and professional lives.
In those early years, my coaching business solely focused on LifeMap Coaching. As life would have it, my professional career took a turn and in 2007 I cofounded the Center for Coaching Excellence. I was still investing in other’s success by providing International Coaching Federation-accredited neuroscience based coach training that equipped leaders and coaches to contribute at their personal and professional best, influencing transformational change in the lives of those they led and coach––which is still the vision today.
As CCE expanded and I began customizing coach training curriculum for diverse organizations and leaders, I found that I had less time to invest in LifeMap coaching. My coaching attention focused on Executive Coaching and Team Development. However, my belief in the LifeMap process—and its impact—never wavered and its draw became significant. Over the past year, I have been preparing to engage again in LifeMap for Focused Living Coaching. That day is here! MaryVerstraete.com website is launched and my schedule is open for LifeMap clients. It is as exhilarating now as it was when I began my coaching business many years ago.
